2011 Emerging Scientists Symposium
On Thursday, February 10th ReMIND hosted the 2nd Annual Emerging Scientists Symposium on Neurological Disorders. Located in UC Irvine’s Student Center, the daylong event provided graduate students and postdoctoral fellows the opportunity to present their research. With topics ranging from mechanisms of neurodegeneration to future therapeutics for Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease, the talks showcased the groundbreaking neuroscience research being conducted at UCI. A keynote address by Salk Institute Professor Fred H. Gage, renowned for discovering neurogenesis in the adult brain, highlighted his lab’s recent efforts to characterize newly born neurons in the hippocampus.
