Staying Safe Over Labor Day Weekend: A Message from UCI Health

By September 3, 2020In the News

To our valued patients, families and community,

The health and well-being of Orange County residents remains all of our organizations’ top priority — and that has never been more true than during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why we formed a consortium earlier this year to work together to inform our community about best practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including the use of masks.

We are joining together to express our gratitude for all you have done — and continue to do — to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community. We know this environment has not been easy and that it may feel like there is no end in sight. However, every day we inch closer to the development of a vaccine and we remain hopeful that our lives will return to something far more familiar one day soon.

While it’s tempting to push our limits, particularly now that Orange County is off the state watch list — it is imperative that we stay the course and do the things that have helped to slow community transmission of the coronavirus. With Labor Day right around the corner — a holiday weekend known for end of summer BBQs and pool parties — we urge you to use extra caution if you’re planning to socialize with people outside of your household. Please limit the size of your gathering, celebrate outdoors and use these safety measures:

  • Wash or sanitize hands frequently
  • Practice physical distancing — at least 6 feet apart
  • Wear masks or cloth face coverings that cover both nose and mouth in public settings — and other times when you can’t safely physically distance

Sincerely,
