Chelsea Cox, MPH, MSW, Associate Director of Education at UCI MIND, will address the current state of Alzheimer’s disease research, which has seen drastic advances in the last two decades. Risk and protective factors, new diagnostic tools, and treatment targets for Alzheimer’s disease will be discussed, highlighting the role of UCI MIND, both in the national research agenda and as a local resource.

The annual gala, A December to Remember, raises funds to support Alzheimer’s disease research at UCI MIND, Orange County’s only state and federally funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.  Widely respected among the scientific community, UCI MIND is one of only 30 such centers in the nation and has been awarded highly competitive grant funding each year.  However, additional funding is necessary to move researchers closer to prevention, treatment, and a cure.
