Dr. Crystal M. Glover of UCI MIND joined the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) Neuroscience Next in Yaoundé, Cameroon during February 24-27, 2025. AAIC Neuroscience Next scientific events took place at 12 global hubs or locations, with Yaoundé representing one site. The co-organizers of AAIC Neuroscience Next – Cameroon Hub were Dr. Alfred K. Njamnshi, Founder of the Brain Research Africa Initiative (BRAIN), and Dr. Bernard Fongang of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. These scientific events aimed to showcase research and related efforts focused on brain health in international contexts to facilitate scientific advancements, foster collaborations, and augment training for early career researchers and students. Dr. Glover attended AAIC Neuroscience Next – Cameroon Hub in her role as Editor-In-Chief of Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Behavior & Socioeconomics of Aging (BSEA), the newest member of the Alzheimer’s & Dementia family of scientific journals hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association. In Yaoundé, she spoke about the general scope of BSEA, including focusing on the impact of and interconnections between individual, social, and structural factors on aging and dementia trajectories at local, national, and global levels. Dr. Glover indicated that BSEA widely disseminates scientific findings, perspectives, and ideas focused on diverse aging and dementia trajectories to inform, develop, and implement best practices, guidelines, interventions, materials and tools, measures, strategies, policies, and other evidence-based materials.
