The faculty and staff of UCI MIND, congratulate Burton Young and his fellow honorees on receiving the Men of Character recognition by the Orange County Boy Scouts of America. I had the pleasure of attending this year’s event, and I was inspired by the stories of the six men who were honored. While each shared his unique journey, there were consistent themes in each of their stories. Each, in his turn, spoke about the importance of hard work, giving back and family.
These themes resonate deeply with my own personal and professional life. As a development officer for UCI MIND and the UCI Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, I strive each day to live up to these values. I have the honor of assisting others in their philanthropic lives to support our Institute as our researchers work relentlessly to end Alzheimer’s. Our donors and friends are committed to helping us for the benefit of their own families and the millions of people affected by this disease.
Burton Young has been a loyal, thoughtful, and generous friend to UCI MIND. Through his service on our Leadership Council, including a term as Chair, he has embodied the values for which he was honored by the Boy Scouts. Our Institute is grateful for Burton’s leadership and commitment in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Please join us in recognizing and congratulating his exceptional accomplishments.
